just in case people don't check the part on keeping them from flowering...
the technique of "pinching," aka literally using your fingers to pinch off the top part of the plant stem, is used to keep the plant compact and bushy. probably shouldn't be overused, but on new growths that seem to be too long or whatever this would keep it under control.
