Do these plants like lots of sun or do they need some shade? How often should I water my coleus? Should I put my plant outside? questions? information?
i read up on these things a little, it says they like moist soil but not too soggy. i'm just checking it by poking the soil every day and if it doesn't feel very moist i'll add some water.
yeah, i went and looked up on it a little... first- only water when the soil feels dry second- water all the soil, dry soil will suck moisture away from the roots third- water until it drips from the bottom, that way you know the moisture goes all the way through (just don't let it sit in the water the has dripped out, i put mine in the sink until it stops) and fourth- you should check the soil about twice a week
They don't like full sun, but they do sometimes do well in full shade. But I think they perfer half and half. Well since we have had so much rain, you don't really have to water your plant for a while. And if your plant seems to be too wet, because of the rain, then you should put it on your porch or garage, until the sun comes out.
i'm keeping mine inside until it gets a little warmer out, just to be on the safe side...it seems to like being near the window (the colors have gotten brighter even during just two days) and it's on the south side of the house, if that makes any difference. i've only watered it once and i'll probably water it again tomorrow; the soil's staying pretty moist. i'm trying to rotate it so it doesn't grow too much to one side...
what has everyone else done so far, if you care to share?
I have kept mine inside near a window. I have been watering it once every four days because i Haven't put it outside to be watered by rai yet. I havent seen any flower buds have you??
But mine has a lot of small holes on it, as if a bug had eaten pieces of my plant...?!? I might try to fence my plant in or put cheesecloth around it to protect it!
no flowers here, just leaves so far... there's a bud in the middle of the main stem that might be a flower though. i think one of the sites i found said something about bugs... *checks* ja! the rosydawngardens one has a section on "pest control & diseases" which might be helpful...
